I have bad GSM/GPRS reception. What can I do about it?

The AvaTrace M60 antenna is located below the handle. The instrument should not be placed so that the antenna is facing a wall. Instead, please make sure that the instrument is placed with the handle facing upwards or outwards.

The AvaPeak antenna is located in the lid and should therefore be placed with the lid facing away from the wall/floor.

If the instrument is placed indoors the reception may vary significantly and it can be beneficial to try several different locations for optimal performance.

Please note that the AvaTrace M60 uses GSM/GPRS only (2G) whereas most mobile phones also use the 3G and 4G networks. A common mistake is to assume that good reception for your mobile phone means that there is also good reception for the AvaTrace instrument.

In locations without GSM/GPRS coverage, you can use the Ethernet port to connect the AvaTrace instrument to either a fixed network or to a 3G/4G router in locations where other mobile networks provide better coverage.
